United Carpet One Celebrates Veterans

United Carpet One Floor & Home in Fresno, CA,  observed Veterans Day with a very special fundraising dinner to support Building for America’s Bravest – a program of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Building for America’s Bravest is a program that builds “smart homes” for catastrophically injured service members. The event was celebrated at Bella Pasta Restaurant in Fresno, California, and raised a total of $20,000.00. Julie Kerkochian, hostess of the event and owner of United Carpet One Floor & Home stores, became an advocate for this cause two years ago.

“Two years ago while attending a Carpet One Convention, I had the privilege to meet quadruple amputee Travis Mills and hear Frank Siller speak of his Brave Little Brother Stephen. Through the Tragedy of 9/11 and the death of Stephen, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation was born and from there, the Building for America’s Bravest program which has helped so many of our heroes. From tragedy and loss comes hope, love, compassion, courage, and the undying spirit of what is means to be an American, expressed Kerkochian.

Carpet One Floor & Home has partnered nationally with Building for America’s Bravest™ to help build custom-designed homes that will allow our heroes live a more independent life. Each home is custom designed to address the unique needs of each. The latest technological enhancements are integrated to these houses to make them suitable for our heroes. For example, having the ability to turn lights on and off using an iPad.

The smart homes are built with the support of many companies and private donations. If you are interested in making a donation to Building for America’s Bravest, visit or visit United Carpet One Floor & Home at any of their two locations in 2450 N. Clovis Avenue, Fresno, CA 93727 or 4950 N. Crystal Avenue Fresno, CA 93705.
